About Us
Tucked behind the village green in Thornbury, The Plough has been feeding and watering locals and visitors since 1642. The building still has its original flagstone floors, exposed stone walls and inglenook fireplace — but the kitchen is very much of today.
Head chef Marcus Webb sources everything as close to home as possible: beef from Eastwood Farm three miles up the road, fish landed at Bristol, vegetables from the walled kitchen garden behind the car park. The menu changes with the seasons and the blackboard with whatever arrived that morning.
There are eight cask ales on at any one time, a thoughtfully chosen wine list, and a sun-drenched rear terrace that fills up fast on summer evenings. Dogs welcome in the bar. Children welcome everywhere.

Slow-roasted Eastwood Farm beef or free-range chicken with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, honey-glazed parsnips and seasonal greens. The best in the county — we may be biased.
